Beginners Sinhala Course Outline
This multicultural Open Group Sinhala Course for Beginners is perfect for anyone who wants to learn the language in a multicultural environment. You will share the course with students from all over the world who share your interest in learning Sinhala and have the same level of proficiency as you. Your native teacher will start the course explaining basic concepts, like how to read the Sinhala script, and then will guide you towards more complex ones, like expressing your opinion on different matters. You will learn greetings for the different times of the day; to introduce yourself; to start using the Sinhalese script; the personal pronouns
You will learn to ask what somebody’s name is; to ask where something is; common class expressions, such as please repeat, please spell, I don’t understand, what does it mean?, etc; numbers 1-10
You will learn to give your address and telephone number; vocabulary related to countries and nationalities; to ask and say where somebody is from; the Sinhalese word order
You will learn to ask and answer how somebody is; more about personal pronouns; to use here and there; to address people; to conjugate the verb to be
You will learn to talk about different free time activities; to conjugate the verbs to live, to play, to have, to understand and to be called; numbers 11-29

You will learn vocabulary related to objects in an office/classroom; to use what, who, and this; to say what you have in your bag/purse; to give positive and negative answers

You will learn to introduce other people; vocabulary related to colors; to conjugate the verbs to speak, to think, to teach, and to finish; to ask for somebody’s email address
You will learn to describe people; to use different adjectives; to ask and answer questions about somebody; to give your opinion; to use antonyms and various international words
* You do not need to buy a textbook to complete your course. Your teacher will share their materials (excerpts from textbooks, audio files, videos, etc.) with you during the classes using screenshare. Your teacher may also recommend other textbooks and grammar books to help supplement or continue your studies, but Language Trainers bears no responsibility for your decision to make such a purchase.
