Austin. A liberal stronghold in the heart of Texas, Austin is famous for being a center of progress and culture. However, it is also the region’s strongest economic hub, serving as a business and technological center and home of regional offices for corporations such as Apple, eBay, and Google. It has an eclectic nature, both in its quirky art scene and its ethnic background; over a third of the population is Hispanic, with 20% of all Austinites being born in a foreign country, most commonly Mexico, and Asian nations.
