The Language Show 2019: Language Trainers Delights Attendees with Romanian

The Language Show, held in the Olympia Exhibition Centre in London, England, is the largest language conference in Europe and celebrated its 31st annual return in 2019. The event attracts practitioners from a multitude of industries, including schools, universities, and international organizations seeking the very latest and best language teaching strategies and deliverables.

Amidst the numerous stalls, exhibitions, and speaker events, expert language teachers are invited to teach taster sessions to eager audiences who want to experience the basics of a given language. For the second year in a row, Language Trainers was invited to participate, and across the weekend of November 15th to November 17th, three of our skillful representatives each taught a 30-minute language lesson.

Mariana Serb represented Language Trainers and taught a Romanian language taster session

Leading the team was Mariana Serb, Language Trainers’ academic adviser:

As this is our second year participating at the event, I was more at ease and could thoroughly enjoy being there without feeling too nervous. The organizers did a very good job in bringing teaching professionals that could share with the audience interesting teaching strategies and activities that help engage language learners, and I greatly enjoyed participating in the seminars.

Mariana started her taster session of about 30 eager students by explaining a little about Romanian culture, the history of the language, and why it bears so many similarities with other Romance languages, including Italian and Spanish. By constantly interacting with the audience, she created a welcoming and relaxed atmosphere that served to increased participation and encourage learning.

Mariana encouraged audience participation with questions, exercises, and fun facts about the Romanian language and culture

After introducing her students to some basic words, greetings, and expressions, Mariana helped to cement their new Romanian knowledge by asking her audience to repeat words back to her and practice using them with each other. Finally, she taught the attendees to count from 1 to 10 in Romanian and for pairs to rehearse asking for one another’s phone number.

“The attendees had a great time discovering the similarities between Romanian vocabulary and the other Romance languages, as well as learning how to have a basic conversation,” said Mariana. “The lesson was fun and interactive! The only drawback was that there was there so little time; I had so much more to say and share!”

Alongside Mariana and her Romanian lesson, Carmen Blanco-Olaizola and Marie-Therese Bougard attended the event on behalf of Language Trainers, teaching equally popular Spanish and French taster sessions, respectively.

It is an honor to be invited to such a prestigious world event as The Language Show, to not only share our innovative, first-rate, proven teaching methodologies, but also to demonstrate how are professional trainers adapt to create wholly personalized and engaging learning experiences.

As always, we will continue to evolve and improve our language teaching approach throughout the coming year, ensuring we offer the very best to our clients. And we look forward to sharing our revolutions with eager language learners at the 32nd annual Language Show in 2020!

Language Trainers Brings Romanian to The Language Show

London- From November 9th to 11th Language Trainers had the opportunity to be a part of The Language Show London 2018. This conference brought together some of the best ideas, best practices, and best technologies in language learning today. Language Trainers was honored to share its methods and excited to learn from all the other participants.

Language Trainers sent Academic Advisor and expert teacher Mariana Serb to share its teaching methods and practices with the conference. She took her 30-minute time slot and taught the attendees the ins and outs of basic Romanian. Her challenge was to teach the conference goers how to greet each other in Romanian by the end of a mere half an hour.

“Thirty minutes was short, it was a bit difficult, but it was fun to share some Romanian with the conference” Mariana Serb, Language Trainers Academic Advisor

By the end of that short block, Mariana had successfully taught her students basic greetings and pleasantries, and bid a fond ‘Mulţumesc’ to all her students.

Mariana demonstrated in just thirty minutes in London what Language Trainers teachers do all over the world, every day. She used the latest in education research, combined with innovative teaching methods to expand the knowledge of her students in a fun and interactive way.  These methods helped the students learn the basics of Romanian, just as they help students learn languages from Arabic to Zulu.

“ It was exciting to meet so many language providers and passionate language learners at this unique event, and I must say that what I enjoyed the most were the language tasters that I attended.” -Mariana Serb, Language Trainers Academic Advisor.

Language Trainers is proud to be a part of the language teaching community. This community helps bring our world ever closer, speed the integration of markets, and foster understanding among cultures. Conferences such as the Language Show bring together the best minds in the community, and Language Trainers is proud to share our methods.
