Overview

Remembering The Kana Part I Hiragana is made to go over every Hiragana character (over 50 in total) and give some useful insight on the stroke order, history and some useful tricks to visualize and easily remember the characters. The book is structured in a very simple way; you will not find grammar activities or vocabulary exercises in any of the chapters. Instead students will focus on learning all of the Hiragana characters in a quick and efficient manner. The book is pretty short (around 70 pages) but there are only so many Hiragana characters to cover and the book makes sure to go over everything in just a few pages.

The book follows a very direct and easy to follow structure in each chapter. Students will be presented with various hiragana characters and then will be provided with a number of tips to help them remember each one (e.g. associating the character with an image or word). Students will then go over the history behind each character and work on writing exercises where they will practice stroke amount and stroke order. Throughout the book, students will also come across some timed tests to help them write words and sentences at a proper pace.
