Have you used this book?

When you teach kids, simply having a book is rarely good enough. Typically, children have shorter attention spans than adults, so they simply need to do a broader variety of activities over the course of an hour. Most teachers wind up surfing the internet to find interesting games, activities, and worksheets to supplement their lessons. If you’re teaching English, that’s fine; you’ll probably find all the worksheets that you need. But if you’re teaching another language, like French, then finding worksheets is a much tougher task.

French: Elementary – 100 Reproducible Activities is a great book that provides teachers with the worksheets they need to teach young students. These pre-made worksheets are ready to be photocopied and distributed to your students. As a teacher, your classroom materials are ready to go!

If however, you are looking for a step-by-step book to help you teach your elementary students how to speak, read, and write French, then this is not the book. This book is designed mainly to help teachers with their prep work. If you are a parent, then you will have to have basic knowledge of French in order to use these worksheets with your children.

When you using French: Elementary – 100 Reproducible Activities, you will still have to plan the rest of your lesson. This book can, however, help you decide what to teach. The first few worksheets are an introduction to the French alphabet. This is done by introducing the letter, sound, and a word that starts with the letter; A is for l’avion, B is for la ballerine, and so on. This is a standard worksheet necessary for children only after you have first taught them the alphabet orally.

Other worksheets include math activities to help your students with numbers; coloring activities to help them learn colors; worksheets to learn family members and much more. Most of the worksheets focus on writing one word or phrase. That is because this book is for students who are just beginning to learn French. The students are probably also just learning to read in their native language as well.

"The book is good so long as you keep in mind that it is simply a book that offers French worksheets. The name 100 Reproducible Activities is a bit misleading as all of the activities are merely worksheets."

The book is good so long as you keep in mind that it is simply a book that offers French worksheets. The name 100 Reproducible Activities is a bit misleading as all of the activities are merely worksheets. If you are looking for games, interactive activities, role play or the like, then this book won’t suit your needs. If, however, you don’t want to search the net for simple worksheets to hand your students to help them review the basics you have taught them in class, then this is a great book to save you precious prep time.
