English Know it All 2 is a book that is specially designed for elementary to middle school students. This book helps higher level young learners develop their English skills by working on engaging thematic units. Although the book puts a strong focus on reading comprehension, students will be able to develop all four language skills while working with each chapter.

Overview

In each lesson, students will begin the unit by reading about a specific topic, working on a listening activity, answering comprehension questions, and finally wrapping up the lesson with a class discussion and/or a group project. Within each unit, students will work on several kinds of activities all at once to help keep young learners engaged while working with the book.

"The book places a strong focus on reading and listening comprehension exercises but thanks to the many partner activities and critical thinking sections, students will also have some opportunities to practice their speaking skills."

English Know It All 2 has the same structure, flow and style as the first book in the series, but a wider variety of unit topics are provided. English Know It All 2 has 8 units that focus on topics like space, animals, the human body, and geography, in order to capture students’ attention as they work through the book. The book places a strong focus on reading and listening comprehension exercises but thanks to the many partner activities and critical thinking sections, students will also have some opportunities to practice their speaking skills. The book has lots of interesting pictures, drawings and designs, which are very important for a children’s course book. There is also a work book that comes with the package which can be used for extra practice, reference, or homework activities.

Pros:

· The book comes with plenty of group activities, which helps students practice their speaking skills.

· The book is both a science and English course book and does a great job at educating students about both subjects.

· There is plenty of useful and educational vocabulary offered throughout the book.

Cons:

· There is a strong focus on reading comprehension and not enough attention is placed on grammar or pronunciation.

· The book is not suitable for self-study.

· The book is not suitable for classes of less than 4 students.

· There are only 70 pages in the book which can seem somewhat light.

Recommended For:

· Teachers who are looking for supplementary material for their lesson plans.

· Classrooms of at least 8 students.

· Students who are living abroad and need to improve their English.

Overall, English Know it All 2 is a good course book to use, but students and teachers should keep in mind that this book should not be used entirely on its own for a class. I would personally recommend using this book along with other material in order to get the most out of a course. Independent learners should also steer clear from this book especially since there are several group activities in each unit and many exercises might call for assistance from a teacher or tutor.
